GREENUP, Ky. — A jail inmate who escaped from authorities and tried hitchhiking alongside a freeway didn’t take pleasure in freedom for lengthy as a result of the motorist he flagged down was a legislation enforcement officer.

Greenup County Jailer Mike Worthington informed The Unbiased that 31-year-old Allen Lewis was being transported on Tuesday to face costs in one other county when he informed the officer his handcuffs had been too tight. The officer pulled over and Worthington stated after one handcuff was launched, the 2 struggled and Lewis received free.

The jailer says Lewis made it to a close-by freeway and tried to flag down passing automobiles for a trip. Worthington says the one that stopped was a campus officer at Morehead State College who noticed handcuffs hanging off one wrist. Worthington says Lewis was taken again to jail and now faces an escape cost.
