The mom of Mollie Tibbetts has taken in the teenage son of Mexican immigrants who had been shut to the daughter’s alleged killer, in accordance to a report revealed Friday.
Laura Calderwood advised The Washington Post that she introduced 17-year-old Ulises Felix into her residence when his mother and father left the small city of Brooklyn, Iowa, following the arrest of Cristhian Bahena Rivera in August.
Although his mother and father fled the city amid seething anti-immigrant rhetoric, Felix wished to keep behind and end highschool.
Rivera, an unlawful immigrant, is accused of abducting Tibbetts, a 20-year-old University of Iowa scholar, in July whereas she was out on a run, killing her and leaving her physique in a cornfield to rot.
According to the paper, Felix’s mother and father labored alongside Rivera on the native Yarrabee Farms for years.
Felix advised the paper that his mother and father “took care” of Rivera “for a while,” saying that his mom fed the 24-year-old day-after-day.
