Basketball star LeBron James has apologised after sharing a lyric about “Jewish money” on his social media.
The Los Angeles Lakers star says he thought the lyric was a “compliment” and affords “apologies, for sure.”
The lyric comes from the monitor “ASMR” by rapper 21 Savage.
It says: “We been getting that Jewish money, everything is Kosher.”
James posted it over the weekend on his Instagram account, which has virtually 46 million followers.
James apologised on sports activities actions TV channel ESPN, saying: “Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone.
“That’s not why I chosen to share that lyric. I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I expertise in my vehicle, I take heed to good music, and that was the byproduct of it.
“So I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people.”
US journalist Darren Rovell was a sort of who criticised the post, saying it was “offensive”.
After James’ apology, Mr Rovell praised the star, saying: “One of the reasons he’s the off-the-court star he is is because he has an impressive emotional intelligence who, considering his time in social media age, has made so few mistakes.”
