Former Ohio cop indicted, used donations on himself

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Officials say a former Ohio police chief used donations that had been meant for a police Okay-9 on himself.

The Ohio Auditor’s Office introduced Thursday Clinton Brown has been indicted by a grand jury on felony theft of workplace.

Auditor Dave Yost says donors gave greater than $14,000 to the New Vienna Police Department K9 Fund in 2017, an account arrange in Brown’s identify so he might buy a police canine.

New Vienna Mayor Kathi Stone later requested state officers to analyze how the cash was spent.

Yost’s workplace says Brown acknowledged spending a number of the cash on clothes, meals and gasoline.

He resigned as village police chief in December 2017.

Yost’s workplace says the village found excellent payments of greater than $3,000 after Brown resigned.
